I moved to the US with my husband and Mandi, our doggo, in April 2023. It was a life-changing event, I don’t have to say, you can imagine. 180-degree change, upside down everything, you have only two suitcases, and everything is new. Even the breath of air feels like it’s different.
Then, my best friend had a wedding in August, so I wanted to be there, and of course, I was her maid of honor. I flew back and spent three weeks in Budapest and my hometown, Sződliget.
My mom got sick; she had gallstone ileus surgery, and we had to take care of her, nurse her, and love her. We spent the whole month together. She had better days, and I flew back to Detroit on the 30th of August.
I planned to teach in Common Thread yoga studio and start my Mysore Ashtanga practice journey in Ann Arbor. I already signed up for a beginner course for Angela Jamison and was dedicated. It was also my way to get through this moving and settling journey in the US.
But I got a call when I arrived home. My mom’s heart stopped; she had one night in ICU. I immediately flew back on the 31st of August. But while I was waiting for boarding, I got a call.
I never forget that day. We had a beautiful connection and a good relationship. My entire world, my cheerleader, was gone at that moment.
And I had 16 hour’s flight ahead. I collapsed, and I don’t remember the flight; I remember arriving in Budapest with my empty thoughts and my shattered inside.
The next few days were unbelievable pain and nights and dreams. And I asked Eszter (@yogawitheszter) what she recommends for me. Because I was again in Budapest and could not start in Ann Arbor, she sent one letter to Szalai István (Bandha Works) to welcome me for Ashtanga practice there.
So I started my Mysore journey in Budapest with István, and now, after three months of practice, I’m here again in the US; I go to practice in Ann Arbor.
I also want to teach here in the US soon, but first, my online classes are returning.
